The Colonists is a game that would be absolutely my jam if it were not also completely broken. There. Review done. Don't buy this game.

Okay, this is a joke. Here's the actual elaboration. The Colonists is a game about cute little robots in space. You will have to mine ressources, which will allow you to mine rarer and more expensive ressources, ect ect and this until you get to have a full functional city. I think the art direction is really cute, and while the base gameplay is pretty simple there are tons of cool things to discover as you go- boat trades! Space trades! Battles! (Okay I don't actually like the battles, but it's less an issue with the game itself and more that this is not what I personally like in a city builder.)

The tutorial of the game is short, easy to understand, and organically introduce you to the various concepts of the game. It is usually very easy to envision what you need to do to reach a given goal, even if it's one that is hours of game away from you. It's cool! Not a challenging game, but a charming one! I like that! I want to like this game!

Unfortunately, as mentioned above, this game has the nasty habit of getting updates that brick my saves. I have one save where my boats suddenly refused to dock anywhere. I have another where my industries insisted they had no access to their needed ressources, even tho I had a full storage room literally two tiles over. At the time I'm writing this this game has been out for about five years. I appreciate wanting to add things years after the game originally came out but man. Sure do wish they didn't accidentally made it unplayable on the way.

Anyways I'll come back to it in a couple years, maybe it'll have an update that fixes all of that by now, but rn I am very unwilling to restart maps I have spent like six hours on because the latest update ruined my workflow.
