A thing I find fascinating about Astolfo is that while they are a bit of a thembo, they are incredibly perceptive when it comes to social dynamics.
By which I mean: yes, Astolfo is the kind of person to forget the name of their own noble phantasm, and the kind of person to blurt out their (and Siegfried's) true name to their enemies without a second thought. But at the same time, they're the one prson who can tell Laeticia and Ruler apart. They're the one person to ask Mordred exactly the question that makes them question their beliefs. They're the one person to roast Gordes so hard he does a 180 on his beliefs.
And most importantly: the Chiron scene! When the gang learns that Astolfo helped a very important homunculus escape, they're all pissed about it. Chiron is about to step in to reveal he helped, so as to mitigate Astolfo's punishment. But Astolfo stops him. Because if Chiron is revealed to have disobeyed orders, it would put the entire team dynamic into disarray. If it's just Astolfo, then that's to be expected, because Astolfo is "the comedy one."
It's a really subtle bit of characterisation, but one I find quite important.
