Normally, I make these self promo posts to uplift old stuff I wrote, but I would feel a bit silly writing about old stuff I wrote when I released a new novella like, a week ago. So!

When Kaev comes back to life, awoken by adventurers on a quest to save the world, it initially assumes that the upcoming end of the world is none of its business. Unfortunately, Kaev knows someone who is deeply invested in such an event- and considering Kaev needs to find her to fulfill an old promise, it has no choice but to join these adventurers on their journey to kill the god of Destruction currently laying waste to the world.
Of course, there is the slight issue that this god happens to be Kaev itself... But hey, so long as these adventurers don't find out who Kaev truly is, there is no reason for things to go awry, right?
The Serpent Must Die is a story about a jrpg antagonist (you know, the classic "evil who wakes up every thousand years and needs to be put down by the chosen one") being forced to join forces with a bunch of heroes on their quest to save the world. It was inspired by the Fire Emblem serie, if that's a selling point to you.
Above all though, it's a story about fate. What do you do when your fate is set in stone? When your nature as a person dictates how you must act? When the world has already decided the role in which you will cast? When you are a god of destruction meant to ravage this land every hundred years, and they are heroes meant to kill monsters. Would you try to change it? Can you? Is there any meaning in trying at all? Must the serpent die, in the end?
Every character has a different answer to that, and perhaps you will too.
You can get the ebook on Itchio (my personal recommendation, since you can just download the epub + pdf and then do whatever you want with it without worrying about DRMs), or on other various ebook stores. Sadly the paperback is only available through Amazon as of right now.
Now that I've got this novella out of the way, I'm gonna work on setting up this Patreon I talked about a while back. If you would like to be alerted when I launch it, you can join my mailing list, or you can drop your email on my old Patreon survey.
