Still thinking about that scene in lb6 where Oberon warns you that when fairies find a new role they might never go back to the old one and therefore we might never get the Mash we knew back, because Fairy Britain is the land of bitches who are tied to their fate and their nature.

In one hand: juicy af that when you actually do get to interact for more than two seconds with Mash again not only does she remember but she doesn’t let go of that new role either. She is Mash Kyrielight, she is your friend, she is Chaldea’s shielder, but she’s also Fairy Knight Galahad, and the knight of Sheffield, and all these titles go against her core nature as someone who does not want to hurt others but it doesn’t fucknig matter because she decides what she wants to be and she wants to be the person who fights to save people even if that endeavor was doomed from the start. Maybe there’s no god or Buddha but there sure is Mash Kyrielight.

But on the other hand: Oberon is a liar. It's his curse. He couldn't say the truth even if he meant to. So where's the lie in his warning? Is it that Mash can very much come back, even if he tells you the opposite?

No. The lie is that he's not talking about Mash at all. He's talking about Guda. He's telling them "hey. You found a new role as Humanity's Last Master. You are deluding yourself if you think you can go back to who you used to be afterwards." This is why the Garden of Lost Wills take Oberon's face, since it's repeatedly hammering Guda in the face with "you think you can go back? Fucking lol. Lmao even."
