Oberon’s body is a costume. All of it. His face is fake because everything about him is fake. He can put on or remove the wings at will, and the same goes for all his bug bits, but it really applies to everything. If he wanted he could plop his entire arm right off. If you cut off his head he could just walk around holding it under his arm. Everything about Oberon is fake and that includes his physical appearance.
